Elephant Folio - over 15" - 23" tall. Full Leather maroon binding with gilt bands and titles to spine, front & back cover gilt decorations, marbled endpapers, gilt page edges. Book Condition Very Good, spine ends worn corners bumped, leather a little worn at edge. end paper & title page foxed, pages slightly toned, occasional spotting 448 pages. For nearly 250 years virtually all ecclesiastical taxation of England and Wales was based on this extremely thorough and detailed assessment. It is a unique source for the medieval period: no other complete survey of its kind survives for any part of medieval Europe.
