1818 First Edition. Size Octavo, 9.25" x 5.5", Three parts, 164, 204, and 246 pages. Original binding of brown calf with gilt titles, bands and vignettes to the spine. Three parts in one volume. With six full page engravings, 2 to each part. Condition good, front hinge cracked, coards showing, calf cover rubbed, especially at the corners and spine edges. A Previous owner has pasted in onto the front pastedown a full page engraving of Pope Nicolas I. Bishop Phillpotts Library label to front endpaper, faint water mark to upper corner of first plate, else pages clean throughout, no foxing. Milner's best work, in it he sought to take up and answer the various objections by the Protestant groups to the Roman Catholic Church. 13344
