Milne, A. A. Now We are Six London Methuen & Co Ltd. 1927 First Edition Fine Binding Very Good No Jacket Book With Decorations By Ernest H. Shepard Size 7.25" x 4.75". 103 pages. 1927 First Edition. Deluxe Edition in Publisher's original Deluxe Binding. Blue calf covers, the front board is decorated with a gilt central picture of Christopher Robin with his fishing rod and double gilt border with floral corner pieces. Gilt titles at the top of the spine, 5 gilt vignettes of Christopher Robin intertwined with gilt flowers, and Methuen in gilt at the foot of the spine. All edges gilt. Pink pastedowns and endpapers with blue line illustrations of Christopher Robin, Pooh and Rabbit. Vignette of Christopher Robin on the title page and the wonderful line illustrations throughout by Ernest H. Shepard. In very good condition, corners rubbed, edges slightly rubbed, the leather is frayed at the very head and foot of the spine but with no loss to the gilt title or Methuen, spine a little faded calf slightly faded. The internal condition is excellent, very clean, the half title is slightly toned else the contents are very clean, no finger marks or inscriptions. 11656 Price:

Blue cloth covered boards with illustrated paper title label to the front cover, red titles to the spine. Conditon very good, corners and spine edges rubbed, cloth split along rear hinge, spine sunned, hinges cracked, end-papers toned, gift inscription to front end-paper, a couple of spots to first and last few pages, pages slightly toned, light marks to margins of a couple of pages, else contents clean. With illustrations by H. M. Brock; black and white line illustration chapter headings and full page plates on glossy paper including colour frontispiece. Written by A. A. Milne, before any of the Winnie-the-Pooh books, during the First World War, his first Children's book. Though as his dedication to his wife states it is not his book, but theirs, his wife had first suggested he "write a little play for yourself and the Colonel's children to act" and that she had written down the ideas that came in to his head during the evenings after his day's work with the 4th Royal Warwickshire Regiment was over, and he goes on to dedicate the book to the Officers and Men of the Regiment. 014266 Price:
