London The Religious Tract Society 1841 Fine Binding Good No Jacket Book With Eighteen Engravings Size 6½" x 4", 378 pages. Black leather and gilt fine prize binding. With the coat of arms of Bedford English School and gilt border on the front cover, tooled and gilt border on the back cover. There are four raised bands to the spine with ornate gilt decoration, titles in the second compartment and gilt designs in the other compartments. Gilt hatching on the cover edges and tooled dentelles on the inner turn-ins. Marbled pastedowns, endpapers and page edges. Condition very good, corners and edges rubbed, title label missing from spine, some wear to gilt, a little loose, some browning and spotting to plates, text pages clean.
