Law, and Robert Scholey 1808 Decorative Calf Very Good No Jacket Book The Third Edition, Printed in 1808. Size 8.25" x 5.25", xiv, 135 pages including notes. Bound in full tan calf with scroll and leaf gilt border to front and back covers, gilt titles, bands, scrolls and vignettes to the spine. Page edges waxed yellow, marbled pastedowns and endpapers. Condition very good, corners and edges rubbed, front hinge starting, a few spots to endpapers owner's signature to title page, else the contents are very clean crisp and sharp throughout. Woodcut vignette to title page together with six head and tail-pieces by L Clennel. Includes a Memoir of the Life of William Falconer, A Description of Candia (Crete) and Advertisements to the second and third editions published in 1764 and 1769. William Falconer (1732-69) was lost at sea 7 years following the publication of the first edition of this work. 12954 Price:

Black leather binding with ornate gilt scrolls and frames on the front and back covers. 4 gilded raised bands to the spine with gilt titles in the second compartment and ornate gilt frames in the other compartments.With gilt dentelles to the cover edges and inner turn-ins. With ten steel plate engravings by James Fittler, R.A.S. from the paintings of Nicholas Pocock, esq. Condition good/very good, cover edges rubbed, binding sound, endpapers spotted, marginal spotting to the plate pages, texts clean.
